Founded in January 2021, Barber Excavation began as a part-time operation built on decades of construction experience, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to quality service. In January 2023, owners Jon and Jennifer Barber took the business full-time, turning years of industry knowledge and dedication into a growing family-owned company.
With Jon’s extensive background in construction and Jennifer managing the administrative side of the business, Barber Excavation combines hands-on expertise with dependable customer service. In April 2023, Preston joined the team, bringing additional experience, dedication, and a shared vision for the company’s future.
Today, Barber Excavation provides a wide range of excavation, site preparation, utility, and property improvement services. While the business continues to grow, its foundation remains the same: hard work, quality workmanship, and a commitment to doing the job right.

Jon and Jennifer Barber
Owners | Operations & Administration
With 40 years of construction experience, Jon Barber brings extensive industry knowledge and hands-on expertise to Barber Excavation. Beginning his career immediately after graduating high school in 1986, Jon has dedicated decades to the construction industry, building the experience that would eventually become the foundation of his own business.
In January 2021, Jon and his wife, Jennifer, established Barber Excavation as a part-time operation before transitioning to full-time in January 2023. While Jon oversees field operations and excavation projects, Jennifer manages the business’s financial and administrative responsibilities, including accounts payable and receivable, customer documentation, and human resources. Jennifer also maintains her career as a dental hygienist, a profession she has worked in since 1998.
Married for 33 years as of December 2026, Jon and Jennifer are proud parents to Brody and Quaid and grandparents to Beulah May and Gus. Together, they have built Barber Excavation around their shared values of family, hard work, and dependable service.
Preston
Equipment Operations | Project Support & Marketing
Preston began working alongside Jon in 2019, shortly after graduating high school. Recognizing his potential and strong work ethic, Jon knew Preston would be an important part of Barber Excavation’s future. When the company transitioned into full-time operations in 2023, Preston was the first person they called to join the team.
Since officially joining Barber Excavation in April 2023, Preston has become Jon’s right-hand man and an essential part of the company’s daily operations. In addition to operating equipment, he assists with project estimates, captures job-site photography and drone footage, and manages the company’s social media content.
His versatility and dedication make him a valuable asset to Barber Excavation, contributing both in the field and behind the scenes as the company continues to grow.
